THE PANDEMIC AND THE UTTER DEGRADATION OF HUMANITY.

The Second Covid wave in India has ended. What is left behind is a devastating legacy of death, debt, suffering, poverty, destitution, and above all CYNICISM. People are aghast, angry at the way the Indian state abandoned its citizens to die! The sheer opportunism with which Indians exploited fellow citizens dying of Covid19!  Die, not as by the muted Delta variant, but for completely other reasons; Lack of Oxygen cylinders, concentrators,  ICU beds, dearth of Ventilators, and key drugs like Remdesivir, paucity of trained medical & paramedical staff, ambulances. The list of Pandemic excesses is endless.


 The Indian state had 13 months to prepare for the impending second wave. There were huge precedents in what to do to combat the impending second wave. England, the US, Italy had all been through it. But, India is different. The Hammurabi code of conduct doesn't apply to this mystic land of 1.3 billion. With lacs dead, no one is even held responsible. Not even the supreme leader.

 Can you imagine better histrionics in history where a leader sheds a few tears on media on the dead and it's all over!. He is exonerated for the worst crime against his own citizens. Mind-boggling! The History of 2002 repeats itself in 2021. With no lessons learned, brace for more, fellow Indians!. And as to the title of my piece, here's the thing


THE VULTURES HAD A FIELD DAY

A friend contracted Covid19. He paid 40 times the price to the ambulance to ferry him to a hospital in Gurugram. In another, the hospital turned off the depleting Oxygen supply to 20 old patients to save the younger ones. All 20 died. The list of similar events is inexhaustible Pan India.

Indians hoarded key drugs, sold them 10 times the price to the dying, black marketed oxygen cylinders, concentrators, siphoned off 7.0 lacs compensation of the Covid dead. Can there be a worse degradation of humanity?

To add insult to the injury, the private schools in the country have set a wicked precedent. They have bulldozed the entire system to extort money from the hapless parents in the garb of development funds. The schools are demanding development fund arrears since March 20. Those who are not paying are being blocked.  

It is anybody's guess what development has taken place in the Indian schools during the pandemic?  Millions of parents are simmering with anger. Protests are on in different parts of the country. The Indian government is silent.

In India, the responsibility to procure oxygen vests with the Govt of India. Most don't know this. People are illiterate and the media is compromised. Motivated Narratives are parroted 24/7 in people's bedrooms by thousands of ruling party's cyber teams and TV anchors. Therefore, despite the carnage, Indians still empathize with the supreme leader. They feel the supremo is working really hard for them. God bless India! and its denizens.

Reflections from Vantage Point in Himalayas.

  NEERAJ MAHAJAN SCOT ADAMS Over this weekend I drove 400 km solo in my 4X4 to a friend's resort located in the quiet and obscure village of Satbonga in Kumaon, Uttarakhand.
